Deputy Director Art Marchand Celebrates Community and Conservation at Fortescue Horseshoe Crab Festival

Deputy Director Art Marchand joined residents, families, and visitors at the annual Horseshoe Crab Festival in Fortescue on May 9, 2026, celebrating one of Cumberland County’s most unique natural treasures and the vibrant spirit of the Delaware Bayshore community.

Hosted by the Downe Township Green Team and dedicated volunteers, the festival once again brought the community together for a day of education, environmental appreciation, and waterfront fun. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the critical role horseshoe crabs play in the Delaware Bay ecosystem, including their importance to migratory shorebirds and the overall health of the region’s coastal environment.
